About Bhu Varaha Swamy Temple Kallahalli:
Bhu Varaha Swamy Temple Kallahalli is located in a bitsy vill named Kallahalli on the banks of swash Hemavati. This is one of the most famous places near Mysore. The tabernacle is devoted to the third manifestation of Lord Vishnu.

This 18-base high hero is beautiful and majestic.
It’s a megalith made of the slate gravestone. The cornucopias of the deity are lighter in colour and the eyes have a red tincture. But it’s delicate to establish if it was sculpted out or if it was tone formed.

This temple Bhu Varaha Swamy Temple Kallahalli is said to be further than 2500 Years old. This region is said to be a ‘punyakshetra’ or a holy region where the great savant Gautam performed penance. It was the maharishi who worshipped the saligrama then. Numerous times latterly, according to legend, King Veera Ballala got lost in these timbers during one of his stalking passages.

The king also installed it in the tabernacle and offered regular prayers. The tabernacle that we see moment is the remains of what the king had erected. It has survived severe cataracts and stood to tell the tale. Indeed moment, right in front of the tabernacle is the gravestone arbour with Devanagiri eulogies on it, telling us the story of the place.

Varaha means boar and the cornucopias of the deity are lighter in colour than the face and the eyes are red. Also, a Sudarshana chakra is sculpted on the reverse of the hero. Lord Valaha’s lower left hand is the Goddess of Embrace, and the lower right hand is abhaya mudra. Lord Varaha wears kiritamukhuta (crown) and Bhoo Devi wears karanda mukhuta. The knowledge of the sculptor regarding the proportions and the rules of sculpturing gods and goddesses is estimable and deserves vast acknowledgement.

Though the hero is huge and majestic, the energy expires from its gentle, warm, and cheering. The deity’s birth star is Revathi and on Varaha Jayanthi in the month of Thai, the major jubilee 1008 Kalasa Abhishekam is held. A hero of Hanuman is also carved under the main hero.
Sri Venkataramaiah an occupant of this place took interest in this abandoned tabernacle and requested the Parakala Mutt Swamy to visit the place. When the Parakala Swamiji visited the tabernacle, he was overcome with emotion and took interest in promoting and perfecting the tabernacle. Now, a full-time clerk performs abhisheka and pooja daily. A new gopura( palace) is erected, and the girding walls are strengthened and beatified.

Religious Importance:
The temple is considered one of the eight Sywayambu Kshetras of Vishnu where the presiding deity is believed to have manifested on its own. Seven other tabernacles in the line are Srirangam Ranganathaswamy tabernacle, Tirumala Venkateswara Temple, and Vanamamalai Perumal Temple in South India and Saligrama, Naimisaranya, Pushkar and Badrinath Temple in North India. Divine ablution is performed daily for the presiding deity, unlike other Vishnu tabernacles where it’s performed only sometimes.
In Tirumala, addicts are supposed to visit the Bhu Varaha tabernacle before they worship Lord Venkateshwara but in Srimushnam addicts visit the Srinivas tabernacle at the western entrance before visiting Bhu Varaha Swamy Temple Kallahalli. The tabernacle is visited by childless couples seeking children and unattached people seeking marriage. The original belief is that the deification done to Saptha Kannigaigal in the tabernacle leads to the right match. The tabernacle is counted as Abhibana Stalas, the tabernacles that are closer to the heart of Vishnu.
