Balmuri and Edmuri falls

All the localities of Mysore or Bangalore are pretty much fond of this place. This is also considered to be a great picnic spot to be with friends or family. Balmuri and Edmuri falls are two man-made beautiful waterfalls situated exactly 3 kms off the Mysore to the Krishna Raja Sagara main road and a total of around 18 km from Mysore City.

Interestingly it is just 6 feet high and the water forcing down will not have a huge current. The beauty of this place is the ambiance of the locality. Greenery viewpoints all around with birds chirping with the sound of the water flow are just an amazing experience to enjoy. Balmuri and Edmuri Falls never fail to disappoint anyone on their visits.

The place where the Balmuri and Edmuri falls is surrounded by mesmerizing greenery surrounded by farming land and it is a crowd hot spot as well. A visit to this place is calming and enjoyable.

If you are a fan of playing in water you should be at this place during weekends. Usually, you can see a lot of students at this place, as this is the main attraction to all the youths to spend time with their friends.

The waterfalls are open almost all times of the year. It’s a favorite getaway for College students during the Weekdays and Weekends. Balmuri and Edmuri are both different places but located close by one another. Balmuri in Kannada Bala means “Right” Edmuri is “Left” direction and Muri means “Curve” hence the name.

Balmuri is much more famous than the Edmuri Falls and hence it is very much famous for having the reputation of being an attraction for film making (Movie Shooting). You can see a lot of street sellers located at this place. The fish freshly caught from the lake is always a best dish to have after a good swim.

Apart from fish you will also get freshly baked crabs and lot of other vegetarian dishes to enjoy your visit and make it much better to remember.        

Note to keep in mind on the visit is keep your children and family safe from depth places has instructed by the life guard. There are few places where the depth is more and the stones inside the river are a bit slippery as well. Avoid mishaps by following all safety measures.

Swimming in this place is little dangerous during the rainy season as the water level will be higher than usual. Keeping that in mind, March to August is the best time to visit. Or say, if you want to enjoy the waterfalls then visit right after Monsoons.

Edmuri Falls

This is not as much famous as the Balmuri Falls but however its an alternative if you don’t like crowded places. The Edmuri Falls located a km east of the Balmuri Falls.

The roads a little bumpy when it comes to Edmuri Falls, hang on to your seats if you are travelling in this direction. The surroundings are completely covered with greenery as going in deep into the path, you can sight the farming land all around.

Behind the Edmuri waterfalls the depth is not so much and the risk factor is minimal when it comes to swimming safety. We can say most of the local Mysurian’s learnt their swimming from this place ha-ha lol. Post swimming activity, the local shops here sell amazing Churmuri (Chats) and also chips and other eatables.

Mysore is well known for its heritage buildings and tourist places. The city attracts tourists from all around the globe. Mysore is located in the southern part of Karnataka state. This city was the capital of the Wodeyar dynasty who ruled for more than six centuries. One can find many tourist places in and around the city. One such famous tourist place is the Krishna Raja Sagara Dam or KRS dam. This dam is also known as Krishna Raja Sagara Dam named after Krishna Raja Wodeyar, king of Mysore. This dam is about 20km from the Mysore city premises.

Today this dam comes under the Mandya district, even though it is near Mysore city. Cauvery river runs through this dam which is a major source of drinking water for the people of Mysore, Mandya, and Bangalore City. The water is stored in the dam for agricultural purposes in the Mandya district.

The Brindavan auditorium spreads over 60 acres and is located at a distance of 21 km down from Mysore. Erected across the notable swash of India, River Cauvery, it took around five years to complete the design. The well-accompanied root show with music, voyaging and well-manicured lawn with flowerbeds are some of the top gests of Brindavan Gardens in Mysore.

Constructed in the year 1932 by the Diwan of Mysore, Sir Mirza Ismail, Brindavan Garden is visited by millions of excursionists every year. Divided into two corridors, north and south, the voyaging installation offered by the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation connect the two corridors along with a walkway ground.

Mysore is one of the large cities in the Karnataka state and it is a major factor that adds to the state’s tourism industry and is a great revenue generator. Mysore, the city of palaces, has a rich history and several tourist attractions. The Chamundi hills in Mysore is a top tourist attraction that draws in photographers, nature lovers, Hindu devotees, and fitness freaks all day of the year. The Chamundi Hills Mysore construction was carried out during the 11th century.

How To Reach Balmuri and Edmuri Falls?

By Road

There are both Govt. & Private buses that work from Mysore to KRS. And once you are inside the Mysore city, there are direct KSRTC busses from City Bus Stand to KRS. And you may have to get down approx. 8 km away from KRS and walk 3 km to reach the place. If you are lazy to walk you can opt for a share auto or a drop auto to reach.

By Rail

The closest railway station is Srirangapatna. If you board any train to Mysore, you should be able to make your way to the Balumuri and Edmuri falls by hiring a cab or taking a bus ride toward KRS Route.

By Air

Closest Airport is Mysore. But International into consideration, Bangalore becomes the hotspot for connectivity. Mysore is located at approx. 200 km and takes around 5 hours to reach the place.
