Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple

The Srirangapatna Karnataka has an old famous Ranganatha Swamy temple. It was constructed by the Ganga kings in 894 AD. In addition to other rulers like Hoysala kings, Vijaynagar, and Mysore kings. It is a famous temple of Karnataka, one of the 7 taluks of Mandya district, near Mysore. It takes less than an hour from Mysore through the road network.

St Philomena’s church or St. Philomena’s Cathedral is discovered in the midst of the city (Mysore), the full name is the Cathedral of Dt. Joseph and St Philomena. Jaganmohana Palace in the city of Mysore, India. It was completed in 1861 and initially used by the Wodeyar, kings of Mysore as their home (when the present Mysore Palace (Amba Vilas Palace) was under construction after the previous palace burned down). 

It is now used as an art gallery and Built in 1861 by Mummadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar, in the traditional Hindu architectural style. The most striking feature of this palace is the intricate carvings that adorn the entire structure.a function hall.

Srirangapatna Fort

The Fort is located at a distance of 1 km from the Srirangapatna Railway Station in the town of Srirangapatna Karnataka. This was the capital of the Mysore state under the mighty king Tippu Sultan son of Hyder Ali. The fort was constructed in the year 1537. This fort has a double wall defence system and four main entrances, which is what makes it one of history’s most secured forts. Most of the fort was destroyed by the English during the 4th Mysore War in the year 1799. The architectural style of the fort is Indo-Islamic. There is a monument in the fort in the place where Tippu Sultan was killed. There are 2 dungeons in the lower chambers of the fort that were used to imprison captured English officers. The fort remains open from 8.30 AM to 5.30 PM and has no entry fee.

Nimishamba Temple

It is considered to be a deity of Lord Goddess Parvati here is a belief in God that Nimishambha is going to remove all the problems within a minute, that is why is called Nimishambha. This temple was installed at the time of Mummadi Krishna Raja Wadeyar about 300 to 400 years ago. It may be built during the rule of Raja Wadeyar (1610-38AD) who ascended the Mysore throne at Srirangapatana

The temple lies at a distance of 5km from Srirangapatana and 18km from Mysore.

Sri Nimishambha Temple is located at Ganzam on the bank of river Cauvery, one can take a dip in the river Cauvery before visiting the temple.

Nimishambha Jayanthi Mahotsavam will be performed on mid of April every year. During pooja, homas are done.

Daria Daulat Bagh

Daria Daulat Bagh which is also known as Tippu’s Summer Palace which is located at a distance of 3 km from Srirangapatna Railway Station. This palace is towered to a 5-foot-tall platform, made via teakwood in Indo-Saracenic style.  The palace is surrounded by a large garden on the southern bank of the river Kaveri. The construction was commenced by Hyder Ali in the year 1778 and completed by Tipu Sultan his son in 1784 CE,

The last floor exhibits the Tippu Sultan Museum which has many of the ruler’s belongings along with many European and Persian paintings and manuscripts. Its amazing balconies and stairways create a perfect shot for picture freaks. The palace is timings/open between 9 AM to 5 PM, with an entry fee of INR 20 for Indians citizens and INR 250 for foreign visitors.

Brindavan Gardens

Brindavan Gardens is a beautiful garden laid out below the Krishnaraja Sagar Dam(KRS) at a distance of 16 km from Srirangapatna Karnataka and 20 km from Mysore city. The Dam was constructed in the year 1932. There are insane beautiful lights and fountains built beside the dam to attract visitors. It’s a great place to hang out for couples and a best-in-class picnic place for families. There is a musical fountain where the light enriches the beauty of the water. The show starts at 7 PM and will continue till 8 PM.

The beautiful garden spreads across more than 60 Acres. The garden provides a tremendous structure – it has three terraces and ends in a horseshoe shape. The garden also has a wonderful palace which has now been converted into a luxury hotel named Royal Orchid.

Gumbaz

One among the best in the list of Srirangapatna Karnataka tourist places, The Gumbaz is a mausoleum that holds the graves of the brave Hyder Ali, his wife Fakr-Un-Nisa, and their son the mighty Tippu Sultan. The construction of this historic monument was completed in the year 1784. The monument was mostly made with black granite and amphibolite. Gumbaz is designed in Islamic style. It was built by Tippu Sultan himself to bury the bodies of his parents and later on he was also buried here. A large rectangular garden and an interior painted in lacquer with tiger stripes is an eye catching beauty of this monument. This is defiantly the best and top place to witness the true craftsmanship of the architecture during the old times.

Jama Masjid

Jama Masjid which is also known as Masjid-e-Ala is situated near the Bangalore Gate of the great Srirangapatna Fort, Karnataka. This is at a small distance of 1.5 km from Srirangapatna Railway Station. It was constructed by the legendary Tippu Sultan in the year 1787. It is a rich structure with two large octagonal minarets that stand on a high platform with an open court in the front. The masjid also bears a clock that has been working since the early 20th century. This cream-colored mosque has about 200 steps taken to the top of the minarets from where you can get a splendid view of the place. It is open from 9 AM to 5.30 PM every day and has no entry fee.

Balmuri And Edmuri Waterfalls

The Balmuri and Edmuri falls are man-made waterfalls on the way to the KrishnaRajaSagar(KRS) dam. It is located 12 km away from Srirangapatna Railway Station. Balmuri falls is actually a small waterfall created by a check-dam constructed on the holy river Kaveri. The water flow is not heavy during the dry season and it is safe to play in the water here. It surely makes justice for a good picnic spot. About 500 meters east of Balmuri is the Edmuri falls where one can swim and play in the water as well. There are plenty of hotels and food small food stalls available at this place. You can also find non-veg hotels where baking of some fresh fish and crab is common. It is open from 6 AM to 7 PM and has no entry fee.

Kunti Betta

This is a hill stop located at a distance of 14 km from Srirangapatana Karnataka. Kunti Betta is a hill situated in Pandavapura Taluk of Mandya district in Karnataka state. It is said that the mother of the great Pandavas, Kunti stayed here during their exile (hence the hill is named to ‘Kunti’s Hill’). The trail is a short but the path is challenging where includes steep ascents and descents. There is a temple with a pond on the foot of the hill. There are rooms to stay for pilgrims who plan an overnight stay at the temple. The steep hill offers a challenge for adventure seekers and is perfect place for rock climbing with your gang. It is open all time of the day and all 7 days of the week and has no entry fee.
