Bonsai is a Japanese introduction to miniaturized plants. The word Bonsai means “Tray Planting” which has become a Japanese culture for gifting the plant on occasion. Kishkindha Moolika Bonsai Garden located on the Mysuru- Ooty Road in Gunduro Nagar is an example of a blossoming Bonsai Garden. This is the best bonsai garden present in Mysore and probably the only one. The Bonsai garden is housed in the Sri Ganapathi Sachchidananda Ashrama which makes the ashrama a very green and clean-air atmosphere.

The Ashrama is a widespread land that consists of all the nature which could be conserved by humans. The Ashrama charges just Rs. 25 for the Bonsai Garden visit and children will have a lot to learn from their visit. The Bonsai Garden was established in 1986 in Mysore by Sri Ganapathi Sachchidananda Swamiji. The Swamiji saw Bonsai as “A rare human endeavor that has led me in awe and introspecting over years. The miniature plant lives a grand life. It reflects the cosmic creation, the play of celestial paradoxes near, yet far, more, yet less, know, yet unknown, Small yet Big” said the Swamiji.
Though the project started as a humble occurrence, it quickly grew over the decades becoming the top attraction of the ashrama. Now the Bonsai Garden has spread over 4 acres of land with more than 25 people looking after the Bonsai plants.
The Bonsai Garden contains more than 100 varieties of such Bonsai in an appealing order. The Children visiting the ashrama will have a great tine because the plants are almost their size, which fascinates them.
The Bonsai Garden is divided into sections for easier understanding. It depicts life and the roots of life very clearly. The plants are beautifully carved out and each plant art work has a deeper meaning and a clear understanding to life. I would suggest everyone to witness these wonderful scenes and to get a deeper meaning to life.
The Rashi Vana Group consists of plants which have a connection with the Indian Zodiac System. The Raga Vana is comprised of plants linked with the Indian Classical Music. The Nakshatra Vana portrays the 27 stars of traditional Indian astrology. The Panchayatana Vana displays five plant gardens closely linked with the concept of the Mother Goddess. Lastly, the Saptarishi Vana which shows seven plants which are linked to the seven Indian Sages.

There is a laughing Buddha Statue in the Bonsai Garden greets the visitors and instils happiness in them. It is really a treat to spectate the wild birds to take shelter and to have a comfortable living condition well within the institute.
Along with the Bonsai Garden, there is a Aviary with more than 450 species of birds housed within the ashrama; along with the aviary there is also a deer park which is situated within the property. So the Ashrama is always filled with living entities which live together without any hesitation.
The Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Ashrama is a cut off of the regular city life of the people to attain tranquillity and peace well within the city which no other place has to offer. With all the animals in the ashrama living with coherence with humans is really a treat to the eye and all the people of Mysore should view the scenery and thank God for his creation of coexistence world.
