One of the most iconic railway treks in India, Sakleshpur to Kukke Subramanya, is situated in the Western Ghats in Karnataka. This 52-km route is known as the Green Route and has 109 bridges and 57 tunnels. The train journey also takes the traveler past several waterfalls and rivers.

If you’re not comfortable taking the railway, you can take a road trip and trek through the forest to see tunnel 11.

The trek to Yedakumeri is medium difficulty, although prior experience is helpful. While the route is well maintained, it’s not recommended for those who are not confident with their physical stamina. It’s best for people who have a strong constitution, as the terrain is tough and dangerous. It’s possible to fall in one of the tunnels and end up injured or killed.

Hemavathi Reservoir

The Hemavathi Reservoir in Udaipur is a popular tourist attraction in the area. It was constructed across the River Hemavathi to supply drinking water and irrigation to the nearby villages.
