T20 WC 2024 Team Announcement Live: IPL performance to hinder Hardik’s WC chances?

According to the report of news agency ANI, the selection committee is discussing Hardik Pandya’s role in the Indian team on the basis of his performance in the ongoing IPL. Hardik is currently leading Mumbai Indians at the bottom half of the table, with three wins and six losses at the ninth spot. Pandya has not been at the best form either, scoring just 197 runs in nine games at an average of 24.62 and a strike rate of over 151. His best score is 46. He has just bowled 19 overs in the tournament, taking four wickets at an average of 56.75 and an economy rate of 11.94.

“If we go by recent form or opportunities, he (Rinku Singh) hasn’t got enough opportunities. End of the day you’ve to forget who the player is and look at what is his track record. Is he a great player, is a deadly player, is he fit? So Rinku Singh has to be a certainty, he has to get the Visa and he will fasten his seat belt to take the flight to the United States to play the game as one of the 15 members in the side,” Srikkanth added.

Suryakumar Yadav is most likely to secure his place while the battle will be between players like Shivam Dube, Rinku Singh, and Tilak Varma. Out of these three, Rinku has been a regular in Team India since 2023 and has time and again proved his potential. However, the mettle of Dube and Tilak cannot be overlooked.
