Bad Newz Box Office: Film does quite well over the weekend, emerges as Vicky Kaushal’s third biggest opening weekend grosser

Finally, there is something to cheer about for Bollywood movies. Bad Newz has not just taken a good opening at the box office but also grown well over the weekend to register healthy numbers. The film currently stands at Rs. 30.62 crores and that sets it up well to start earning profits in quick time. Since this one is a mid-budget film, the theatrical collections are good enough to take care of the costs involved. Moreover, reviews for the film has been positive and now word of mouth from, audiences is positive as well, which means Bad Newz will keep finding audiences for weekdays to come.

There has been a steady rise in collections for the film as from Rs. 8.62 crores on Friday, the film jumped to Rs. 10.55 crores on Saturday and then Rs. 11.45 crores on Sunday. To get two double-digit days in its opening weekend is a good enough feat for the Vicky Kaushal, Triptii Dimri and Ammy Virk starrer and now all eyes are on the kind of numbers that come from Monday onwards. At the bare minimum, Rs. 4 crores are on the cards though if by some chance it manages to come close to Rs. 5 crores mark then that would be truly fantastic as it would mean weekdays too would contribute around Rs. 18 crores more.

For Vicky Kaushal in particular, the film is a good personal milestone since it has emerged as his third biggest ever weekend opener. Uri – The Surgical Strike had collected Rs. 35.73 crores in its opening weekend and Raazi had brought in Rs. 32.94 crores. Now Bad Newz has is below that by just a little margin. The first week record would continue to stay on with Uri – The Surgical Strike since it had managed insane hold during the weekdays as well, hence resulting in Week One standing at Rs. 70.94 crores.
